EarToTheWorld
The goal of the Eartotheworld project is to document, archive and make available folk, mythological and childrens stories from around the world. More than 7,000 of the worlds languages will be extinct by the end of the century and with them we will loose a rich archive of human oral story telling history. Eartotheworld is a twopart project. The first part is this website, which allows users to record folk, mythological and childrens stories from their local countries or regions. Users can do this via the web interface or upload the file, which will be stored on a server. The stories can also be given a price if the storyteller wishes to do so. The second part of the project involves an installation (images shown below), which allows users to point this device in a particular direction and hear a story from a country in that direction.
Installations

The form of the object is specifically created to allow people to pan it from side to side. Users interacting with the installation will feel as though the instrument is sucking in air from distant lands. Air, that holds old world folklore spoken by people in the past. The user will not be aware of the Internet, but instead feel as though the stories, chants and voices are being pulled through the air.
